Crypto Token Development in Uganda — How DeryCode Built DeryCoin (DERY)
DeryCoin (DERY) is Uganda's first community blockchain token, built by DeryCode on the Polygon PoS network. This article walks through the complete process of crypto token development — from concept to deployment.
What is DeryCoin?
DeryCoin is an ERC-20 token with a fixed supply of 10,000,000 units, zero buy/sell tax, and a burn mechanism. It's built on Polygon PoS for low gas fees and fast transactions — making it practical for everyday use in Uganda and East Africa.
How to Create a Crypto Token
Step 1: Choose the Blockchain
DeryCode chose Polygon PoS because of its low transaction fees (fractions of a cent), fast confirmation times (seconds not minutes), and Ethereum compatibility. Ethereum mainnet gas fees are too high for microtransactions common in Uganda.
Step 2: Write the Smart Contract
DeryCoin's smart contract is written in Solidity, following the ERC-20 standard. Key features include: fixed supply (10M tokens), burn mechanism (permanently remove tokens from circulation), zero transaction tax, and transfer restrictions for the owner.
Step 3: Test on Testnet
Before mainnet deployment, DeryCode tested DeryCoin on the Polygon Amoy testnet using Hardhat. All 5 test suites passed: deployment, transfer, burn mechanism, allowance/approval, and ownership.
Step 4: Deploy to Mainnet
Deploy the verified contract to Polygon mainnet. The contract is verified on PolygonScan for transparency. Liquidity is provided through a DERY/USDC pair on QuickSwap.
Step 5: Create Liquidity
List the token on a decentralized exchange (QuickSwap for Polygon) by providing initial liquidity in a DERY/USDC pool. This enables anyone to buy and sell DeryCoin.
How Much Does Token Development Cost?
Crypto token development by DeryCode starts from UGX 2,500,000. This includes smart contract development, testnet testing, mainnet deployment, and liquidity setup. Contact us on WhatsApp +256 772 002 326.
